Irish point winner (3m, good) who won a novice hurdle at Bangor (2m, soft) in November and he ran respectably in handicaps (2m4f/3m) in his final two runs during the winter; should have a future at this new discipline and he needs a close look on chase debut.

Comment

Point/hurdle winner who should have a future at this new discipline; respected

2-4 over hurdles but mixed form in five runs over fences, with his best effort a second of five at Windsor (3m, soft) in January; had wind surgery after disappointing run at Kelso (jumped right) in February and he had a walkover at Hereford on Tuesday; not easy to weigh up at present but both hurdle wins came over similar trips and he has claims if back near best.

Comment

Mixed form in five runs over fences but looks feasibly treated on best form; had wind op

Stable Tour

"After winning his point-to-point, he ran in two bumpers last season, winning at Chepstow before finishing a good second at Punchestown. He'll probably start at the Hennessy meeting and is a well-above-average novice hurdler. 01-11-24"

"He's had wind surgery since disappointing at Kelso. He's one I really fancy for the Summer Plate - I know we're looking way ahead, but it's always been Dad's race! He may have a spin or two beforehand, but his main aim this year is getting to Market Rasen. If the wind operation has done the trick, then we'll be laughing for it. 26-03-26"

Quotes

"The only horse that's beaten him is Wingmen, who has placed in a couple of Grade 1s and is rated 139. We're very lucky to have him. Queensbury Boy ran very well at Punchestown last year and while it's a big step up in grade, he has class and he's also fresh,. A lot of these talented horses have had tough winters, whereas Queensbury Boy hasn't. He's a novice until the autumn, so the Persian War will definitely be in our mind. I know one of Davids [Maxwell, owner-jockey] dreams is to win the Cheltenham hunter chase. It's a long time off, obviously, but hopefully he'll be that standard one day - Harry Derham, jockey, speaking to Sky Sports Racing."

2025-03-21 - Newbury

"Queensbury Boy is a very nice horse. He's very straightforward and I think we'll run him in a nice novice hurdle somewhere. He's a chaser for next year and I'm really looking forward to that - David Maxwell, owner/rider."

Irish point winner who won two of her three novice hurdles (both 2m3f, good to soft) but she's made a shaky transition to fences; ran well to a point when runner-up at Newbury in February but she was pulled up after making a bad mistake at Hereford (first run after surgery) last month; that took her chase record to 0-4 and others are more convincing.

Comment

6yo who is 0-5 over fences and was pulled up last time; others are more convincing

Stable Tour

"She's done really well and her first run at Warwick was excellent, which we kind of expected. That was over 2m3f and then we went to Cheltenham over 2m1f, which completely backfired. She's a brilliant jumper, but just a couple of times she made some horrendous mistakes. We're going chasing, and she's been excellent when she's schooled, so let's just sail on. She goes well, she jumps well, she does everything. 21-10-25"

Quotes

"That's Nice is absolutely gorgeous. She just travelled nicely and jumped. We knew she'd jump, but I can't take any of the credit. JP's four-year-olds are with Derek O'Connor for point-to-pointing and they had a good year last year. As we had her mum, the progeny come back to Seven Barrows, which is very, very nice. I liked the way she went about it and it was the perfect introduction. The one in front was the form horse, so it was nice to see that she could track that and quicken up. I liked the way she quickened, it was fairly instant. You'd think the trip is about right, two and a half [miles] is probably the area we'll be playing in. There's a long way to go, but I think there's some nice days ahead of us - Nicky Henderson, trainer, speaking to Racing TV."

Triple hurdle winner who made it fourth-time lucky over fences when beating two rivals at Chepstow (2m, soft) in March; fell at the 12th at Hereford (2m5f, good) last month but he's was still travelling well at the time and he should have more to offer as a chaser; respected.

Comment

Fell at Hereford but that was after a win at Chepstow and he still has potential as chaser

Quotes

"Black Hawk Eagle did it well enough in the end. I got left in front plenty early enough but he jumped well. I was very happy with him - Simon Torrens, rider."
