Frankel colt who comfortably defied a 3lb penalty in Group 3 event at Newmarket (good) on seasonal debut, completing a 1m2f/1m1f hat-trick and taking overall record to 4-7; gave the impression he'll be as effective returned to 1m; progressing well and his stable has landed this prize five times, including the last two years; commands respect.
Comment
Frankel colt who is progressing well; yard has a good record in this prize; respected
Quotes
"That was good to see. Damysus has an explosive turn of foot and put it to good use there. He'd done well over winter and has a lot of potential. We knew he'd handle the track as he won well here last autumn. He could go up to a mile and a quarter, but he's not short of speed so he could go back to a mile - Thady Gosden, joint-trainer."
2026-04-15 - Newmarket"He is a grand horse, Damysus. He went over to France at the weekend to run in the Prix Dollar but with the rain it was too soft, so all he did was have his lunch and a good dinner in France and then came back on the train! So, he missed a piece of work while he was eating and sleeping in France, but he has gone and won nicely here today. We are very pleased with him. He won at Deauville over a similar trip. We will put him away now as I can't imagine there is much left for him in our season. I think ten furlongs is right up his alley and we'll start him out next season in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown. I can see the pattern of races now - John Gosden, joint-trainer."

Quotes
"Notable Speech has got that electric turn of foot. He's tailor-made for this track and the experience at Woodbine has been the making of him coming into a race like today. Will's [Buick] ride there was copybook, if you could've written a script on how to go round there, that was it. I was confident [watching the race], people would be praying for the cutaway but the longer we could sit on the rail the better because no one's got a turn of foot like him - Charlie Appleby, trainer, speaking to NBC.I've been everything on this horse, I've been a hero, a villain, but Charlie [Appleby] always fills me with great confidence. Notable Speech broke better today than we'd hoped. He was probably a bit unlucky in this race last year, as he lacked that two-turn mile experience, but he's a different horse this year - William Buick, jockey."
2025-11-01 - Del Mar"The normal outer turf track here is beautiful, a European style of racing. Now, obviously, we're on the inside track for these races, so it changes the dynamics a lot and our horses find it challenging.I was not going to give up my position on Notable Speech. He's an experienced horse so I could do that with him. You have to be brave for a little bit there, but he was. Once he got into that position, he relaxed beautifully and he got into a nice rhythm. For me, he was winning from there on out - William Buick, rider."
2025-09-13 - Woodbine"William [Buick] was really disappointed, Notable Speech didn't hit the line like we thought he would - Charlie Appleby, trainer."
2025-07-12 - Newmarket (July)"It's disappointing when you have a race like that and they've gone the pace they have. From our point of view, it was a bit hard to watch. Notable Speech was sat there, travelling like he was, and you knew it was going to turn into a sprint. We will put it behind us and he has run a solid race. I take on board what William said afterwards and, if you wanted to pigeon-hole him into a trip now that he is older and stronger, then seven furlongs is his gig. I still wouldn't walk away without taking a good strong view of the Sussex again, but we all know the City Of York Stakes is going to be one hell of a race this year - Charlie Appleby, trainer."
2025-06-17 - Ascot"I'm delighted. Will said Notable Speech showed all his usual enthusiasm. He travelled and was one of the last to come off the bridle but then got tired close home - Charlie Appleby, trainer."
2025-05-17 - Newbury"Charlie [Appleby] is very philosophical and it's all now geared towards the Breeders' Cup, where Notable Speech will get the ground he needs. We all saw at Goodwood and Newmarket that he has fantastic acceleration on the right surface - Hugh Anderson, Godolphin chief executive."
2024-09-08 - Longchamp"Notable Speech was firing on all cylinders coming in here today. He's a brilliant Guineas winner, with a very rare turn of foot. He showed that again today and I'm delighted. Full credit to Charlie and the whole team, they've done such a good job with him to get him back after a disappointing run in the St James's Palace where he was obviously too bad to be true. He's such a brilliant horse. He's a horse that really excites you and it's a real privilege to be riding him - William Buick, jockey, speaking to ITV Racing."
2024-07-31 - Goodwood"It's disappointing. That's obviously not the horse we know from Newmarket. Notable Speech relaxed nicely and I thought everything was going how I expected. Take nothing away from the winner, who has danced every dance, but we've not run anywhere near what we can do - William Buick, jockey."
2024-06-18 - Ascot"Notable Speech really was impressive. He's the kind of horse who I've not known for that long. I came back from Dubai and rode him in February and here we are. I've not very often believed in a horse as much as this guy. I've had that much belief in him and sometimes you go home at night and think 'have I lost the plot all together?' because that's how he does things, he does it so easily and his change of gear is incredible. The race couldn't have worked out any better, fair play to the team he was in great form today. He's done nothing but improve. He's an out-and-out miler, he's all about speed. He's got a strong mind, I really think he's a horse who is going to keep improving - William Buick, jockey, speaking to ITV."
2024-05-04 - Newmarket"I was very pleased with how well Notable Speech has done physically since the last time I rode him. He's really filled out and I think he's grown a little as well, which is always nice to see. I couldn't be more happy with him. I tested him a little bit today and he had it covered in a stride. I had to try and pick a path with him but he's genuine and easy to deal with and he's got a bright future ahead of him. Obviously at the moment it's all wet [on the grass] so this was a nice opportunity for him to have another run on this surface. He'd handle a little bit of cut in the ground but he's a very fast horse with a low action, so he would like decent ground. He's a speedy miler. It was a really good performance and he deserves to go up in grade now. I thought this was a warm race and he gave away weight to all of them, so I'm delighted - William Buick, jockey."

Very progressive and unbeaten (4-4) in his first season last year, culminating in Group 2 win at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) where he won going away; finished third, tasting first defeat but not disgraced, at Sandown on reappearance; may resume improvement with that outing under his belt and show that he's still a likely candidate for high ranking in the miling division this term; big player.
Comment
May resume progress with Sandown reappearance under his belt; 4-4 previously; big player
Stable Tour
"A very exciting horse, it's just a shame Sheikh Mohammed Obaid isn't around to see him. Hopefully, he turns out as good as we've hoped. He's very straightforward and has a high cruising speed and a turn of foot. We could go straight to the Lockinge or we could take in the Sandown Mile as a prep run. He'd have a penalty but he's more than capable of handling that. He's very forward, is working nicely and is fit. Newbury and the Queen Anne are the key early targets. 31-03-26"
Quotes
"No excuses, it was a satisfactory run and I imagine Zeus Olympios got tired in the last half a furlong. He's finished a neck down on Field Of Gold giving him 3lb, so you couldn't say it was a bad run. We're disappointed to have lost our unbeaten record, but I see no reason we won't be heading to the Lockinge off the back of that. He was a few kilos heavier than he was last year and he'll definitely come on for the run - Karl Burke, trainer."
2026-04-24 - Sandown"Zeus Olympios is a lovely horse, a great-natured horse who goes about his work really well and all he's done is physically improve from month to month at home. I thought it [step up to Group 2] might be a little step too far at this stage but it was the last race he could run in and that's shown us exactly where we're going next year. I'd imagine we'd start off in the Lockinge [next season] and that will tell us whether we're staying at a mile or stepping up but he's obviously a horse with a big turn of foot - Karl Burke, trainer. We've liked Zeus Olympios ever since he came to the yard. We had heard a lot about him and that he was a very good horse and with every run he's had he's improved a hell of a lot. He is very tall and I think next year he will fill out a bit stronger. He is a lovely horse with a great attitude. He stayed the trip very well and saw it out nicely so he could step up in trip but at the same time he has plenty of boot underneath him. Flight Plan has got plenty of boot so he was the pace. I had William Buick and Colin Keane upsides me and they just tried to box seat me a little but I made sure I was on the ball - Clifford Lee, jockey."
2025-09-26 - Newmarket"I thought it was a very good performance. Zeus Olympios has a great mind and took everything in his stride. William [Buick] said as soon as he jumped and went a furlong, he knew he was sat on a good horse. I was a bit worried whether I was doing the right thing dropping him into this grade, but there's a lack of black type races over this trip. He's only going to improve. I'll speak to Sheikh Mohammed Obaid but I don't really want to throw him in too deep this time round. Next year will be his year - Karl Burke, trainer."
2025-09-06 - Haydock"Zeus Olympios has been working really well at home but he's had his niggles. He's done that quite nicely in a race that didn't feel that strong. I thought going to the 2f pole I was going to pick them up and do it quite easily, but then the greenness kicked in and I had to get after him. He'll be even better, probably over a mile, next time - Clifford Lee, jockey, talking to Racing TV."

French colt who has low mileage and could well show further improvement in this 4yo campaign; held on narrowly in the Group 1 Moulin at Longchamp (1m, good to soft) then ended 2025 season with creditable fifth to Notable Speech in the Breeders' Cup Mile (firm); interesting in this first British foray.

French colt who won the 2025 Moulin; could well show further improvement this term
Quotes
"Sahlan ran a good race. We got a bit outpaced down the backstretch but he picked up well and was never nearer than at the finish - Mickael Barzalona, jockey."
2025-11-01 - Del Mar"Today was a big challenge. I said to His Highness Sheikh Joaan that I didn't have many options for Sahlan and that he was in very good form and he can quicken. It was a big gamble but I said if he was in the first five it would be fine, we have nothing to lose, and he believed in me and obviously it paid off really nicely today. There was a lack of options and I've always liked the horse. In the Poule d'Essai we had a lot of excuses and then he was sick when he was beaten in the Listed race. He won comfortably in the Group 3 last time. I don't think I'll run him again here on soft ground," he added. "I'll speak to the entourage but if he's well, why not go to the Breeders' Cup Mile? We'll probably keep him as a four-year-old - Francis Graffard, trainer."
2025-09-07 - Longchamp"I've always thought plenty of Sahlan but he's not been straightforward and was actually sick last time so he couldn't show that acceleration. We decided to ride him cold today and get him covered up on the inside. They went hard and he really showed his class. He has a real turn of foot when you get him to switch off and has a lot of quality. We'll have to see how he comes out of this race but the mile is his trip and, as long as the ground stays good, we might have a look at the Moulin, where he would have nothing to lose - Francis Graffard, trainer."

Usually held up in rear; raced at 1m1f/1m2f for previous stable; record of 4-6 (over 6f/7f) last term for new yard featured wins in a major handicap at Newmarket and Group 2 at Newbury, both on good to firm ground; respectable fourth in the Group 1 Foret at Longchamp (7f, very soft) on final start; shapes as if this new trip is worth exploring and may rate higher still.
Comment
Did very well over 6f/7f last term for new stable; shapes as if 1m is worth exploring
Quotes
"More Thunder feels like a Group 1 horse. York will come quick, but there's a nice option in France [Foret] over seven which is a Group 1 and he might get some cut in the ground, which definitely isn't against him - Tom Marquand, jockey."
2025-08-16 - Newbury"I need to watch to watch the race again but for me they didn't go fast at all and he really struggled to get momentum. I think More Thunder is better going fast Tom came in and said if we run over this trip again they'll need to go hard. He feels 6f is his best distance. I think he deserves a shot at a Group race now. We had wanted to go up to seven at some stage and today was a good opportunity. We'll have a crack at a six-furlong sprint now ? he's in everything. He only won when his head was down but this year there have been a lot of times when my head has been up and we've got beat - William Haggas, trainer."
2025-07-12 - Newmarket (July)"Delighted with the way More Thunder ran, a little frustrated with the outcome - William Haggas, trainer."
2025-06-21 - Ascot"At some stage More Thunder is going to go into stakes races, but he's low enough in the handicap to be competitive [in the Wokingham]. He had three pounds less weight than he should have had today, and that would've made the difference so the handicapper shouldn't put him up too much - William Haggas, trainer."
2025-05-03 - Newmarket"More Thunder travelled very well and finished his race off well. Wiliam Haggas wanted to start him off over six with a view to going seven furlongs next time. He's strengthened up and has been showing more speed this year - Philip Robinson, racing manager to owner Saeed Suhail."

Disappointing in last year's Dante and Derby but subsequently showed very smart form back down in trip, including placed efforts in three top-level races over 1m, third to Notable Speech at the Breeders' Cup (firm) the final time; took advantage of a good opportunity in Leopardstown Listed event on reappearance; possibilities back up in class, provided he takes well to first-time headgear.
Comment
Placed in a few Group 1 races over 1m; possibilities if taking well to first-time headgear
Stable Tour
"He didn't win last season but was second or third in four Group 1 races, the last three of them over a mile. He's done well over the winter and we're training him with a view to the Lockinge. 31-03-26"
Quotes
"The plan was to come here and then go to the Lockinge. The Lion In Winter went there and just got a bit tired, but Wayne was very happy with him. He has a lot of racing to do this year so we didn't want to have him too ready starting off. He had to have a run before Newbury. I'm delighted with Expanded, the plan was the same with him. He'll go to the Lockinge too - Aidan O'Brien, trainer."
2026-04-15 - Leopardstown"Lion In Winter jumped out the gates really well, I was travelling very easily all the race and he quickened up very well - Christophe Soumillon, jockey."
2025-10-18 - Ascot"I thought The Lion In Winter ran a very good race. He enjoyed getting a lead today and [being] on the turn. I'm very pleased with him - Wayne Lordan, jockey."
2025-09-07 - Longchamp"The Lion In Winter was a bit green, he wasn't sure of himself out in front - Aidan O'Brien, trainer."
2025-08-17 - Deauville"I'm very happy, The Lion In Winter ran a very good race. He has plenty of speed and has the choice of the Sussex or coming back here for the mile race [Jacques le Marois], depending on how he is - Aidan O'Brien, trainer."
2025-07-06 - Deauville"That was disappointing as The Lion In Winter was beaten a long way out - Colin Keane, jockey."
2025-06-07 - Epsom"Ryan was very happy. He said The Lion In WInter jumped out and he was a bit keen and a bit fresh, but when he did get him back he relaxed very well. He said he had to come out earlier than he wanted as they were coming around him and he probably got a little bit tired because it was his first run, but he was very positive about him. Ryan said the ground probably couldn't be quick enough for him and he rides like a horse with a lot of class and a lot of speed, and we just have to decide now do we go to Epsom or does he go to a French Derby or what does he do? The long and the short of it and what is going to tell us is how he is in a week - Aidan O'Brien, trainer."
2025-05-15 - York"The Lion In Winter broke smart there and Ryan gave him a very uncomplicated, straightforward ride. They just went an even gallop but he found plenty when Ryan asked him. He looks a very nice colt so I'm delighted for everyone. We always thought he'd get further than seven. We came here with the view he'd go back [to the Curragh] for the Goffs Million and we'd get good experience by coming here. He's not short of pace but you'd imagine he'd get further than a mile and a quarter - Aidan O'Brien, trainer."
2024-08-21 - York"The Lion In Winter is a lovely horse and had been working lovely. He will have no problem going up in trip but he has plenty of class - Aidan O'Brien, trainer."

Mixed results in international races are flanked by wins in last two domestic attempts, namely Group 2 at Goodwood and Listed race at Ascot, both over 1m on good to firm; very useful but his figures seem to have settled at a ceiling that is below the required standard in this field.
Comment
Successful in last two domestic attempts but faces a stiffer assignment in this field
Quotes
"Jonquil is a talented horse, and his record was a bit in and out last year, but the Greenham, French Guineas and Celebration Mile take some winning. He didn't win the French Guineas, but he nearly did. Hopefully we get faster ground later in the year and he can win a big one. The Lockinge would be an obvious next step. He had a tough campaign last year, so if we can get a clear run now, then hopefully he can prove he's a decent horse - Andrew Balding, trainer."
2026-05-01 - Ascot"Jonquil was a bit free early but Colin did a lovely job getting him to settle. I was always fairly confident we were going to get up, but we had to pull out everything to get there. Everything is possible and [going up in trip] would change the landscape for him - Andrew Balding, trainer."
2025-08-24 - Goodwood"Jonquil was given a wonderful ride and he's done us proud. It would be frustrating to get beaten on the nod but we've got a really exciting horse and it's onwards and upwards. We feel he stays the mile but he's got a lot of speed and we might end up dropping back to seven-furlong options later down the line. At Ascot we've got a number of options. There's the Jersey Stakes, the St James's Palace Stakes and he's in the Commonwealth Cup. He's not the only horse Juddmonte have so we'll just have to see where they all fit - Andrew Balding, trainer."
2025-05-11 - Longchamp"Jonquil was a smart horse last year on his debut and although it didn't go to plan second time out, we've had plenty of time with him. His work's been great and I'm thrilled to win it. - Andrew Balding, trainer."
2025-04-12 - Newbury"Jonquil will have learned a lot from today. He's a nice two-year-old and he's got the pedigree and physique to back it up. They were always quite positive when they sent him from Juddmonte and he's shown a gritty attitude. It was nice to see him come back at the end. There's stamina in his pedigree but he's got that bit of speed from his dam too. Seven furlongs is okay for now, but I'm pretty sure he'd stay a mile this year if we wanted him to, and further next year. It's exciting. He's got a nice future - James Savage, assistant trainer."

Didn't have the ideal set-up at Sandown (behind Zeus Olympios) on reappearance but still needs to prove the form of his 100-1 success in last year's Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II (1m, good) at Ascot, where he was possibly helped by the draw, can be backed up; may be flattered by his mark.
Comment
Still needs to prove the form of his 100-1 success in last year's QEII can be backed up
Stable Tour
"He's been off since the St James's Palace Stakes with a joint problem, but he's done well and is sound now - he's been trotting for the last few weeks and looks great. He's got a lovely mind and this time last year we were really excited about him - he's very talented. He probably won't run until June or July and we'll start in a conditions race over a mile, if one exists. 17-04-24"
"He was one of the talking horses going into Royal Ascot after winning his first three starts. He isn't very exuberant at home and when you watch him he does nothing flashy. He's so laid back and just does what you ask. We had him out nice and early this year and he won a Wolverhampton novice on his return. That was pretty much what we expected and he then went to Goodwood for a strong conditions race over a mile, which he won very nicely again. On the back of those wins we went for the St James's Palace on Tuesday, although he could only manage seventh on the day behind Paddington. He's a strong, athletic type like his dad, but a little bigger than him. It's an unusual route to this race but on what he's done it was the next logical step. He's clearly effective over a mile but I think he should get 1m2f later on. 21-06-23"

"It's amazing. I'm speechless to be honest with you. I'm chuffed for Jason [Watson] and the owners have been brilliant. It's been so dry leading up to today and we were hoping for some rain but that obviously didn't come. It's been a tough year for us all at home. Cicero's Gift is talented but he's been a challenge; he's not been the soundest - Charlie Hills, trainer.Cicero's Gift came into this so well. I worked him the other day and was very happy with him. I'm telling you now, on the way here I just felt like something was a bit different - Jason Watson, jockey."
2025-10-18 - Ascot"They went hard and I'm delighted with how well Cicero's Gift saw it out. We've been very patient with him this summer and it's been frustrating having to wait all those months of the season but we've always had the QEII in our minds as it can often be heavy going there. Back in the spring he wasn't beaten far here by horses like Dancing Gemini. He's got the form, he's been as sound as a pound this season and hopefully his owners' patience can be rewarded - Charles Hills, trainer."
2025-09-17 - Sandown"To go and win today is testament to the horse as Cicero's Gift wasn't fully wound up. The soft ground is important to him as he had bone bruising on all four fetlocks last year. We have a bit of money in the pot now so we may have to supplement him for something - Charles Hills, trainer."

Bright start to last season culminated in neck second when favourite for this contest; broadly not in the same form since, most recently last of six (behind two of today's opponents) when bidding for repeat success in Sandown Group 2; big revival is needed in first-time headgear.
Comment
Close second in this race last year but needs a return to form in first-time headgear
Stable Tour
"He did a nice piece of work last Wednesday and it's all systems go now. He won't be doing anything too special between now and the race, just some healthy exercises. He's fit and he's ready, and we just want to keep him ticking over. He did us proud in the Lockinge when just pipped by Lead Artist so hopefully he can put in a similar performance. 10-06-25"
"He did well over the winter and is a lot more relaxed this year. He was working very well going into his return in the bet365 Mile at Sandown, so we were a bit disappointed with his run. He probably wasn't as fit as we thought we had him and he got a bit tired a furlong out. He had a good blow afterwards and maybe was a bit rusty. We'll see how he comes out of it as to whether we roll the dice and go back to the Lockinge, but one bad race doesn't make a bad horse. We also have the option of going back up to 1m2f this season now he relaxes better. 29-04-26"

"Dancing Gemini has run a cracker but that ground was rattling fast. I asked the clerk of the course on Friday if he'd put a bit of water on it Friday but he wasn't playing ball."That's quicker ground than he's ever been on, but we've only gone down a neck. We don't duck and dive and will go to Ascot next. He went down on his sword and is a Group 1 winner waiting to happen - Roger Teal, trainer."
2025-05-17 - Newbury"We always thought Dancing Gemini could do what he has done today and that is why we were pitching him in all the Group races last year. Unfortunately, it was such a wet summer last year and we never got a chance. Everyone kept labelling him a soft ground horse but he's not a soft ground horse. I was delighted to see him win like that again today. I know some of the field will improve for today but Mr Fabre's horse was fit and he's no mug - he was third behind us in the French Guineas when we were runner-up. Haatem is also a serious horse. The Lockinge and the Prix d'Ispahan are the options now. We've got to get him a Group 1 and we'll do what is best for him so it's not decided yet. We'll see how the dust settles after today - Roger Teal, trainer."
2025-04-25 - Sandown"Dancing Gemini likes this track! I'm absolutely delighted. We've always had high hopes for this horse, doing what he did there in a quality field I'm very excited. We thought we'd start at a mile. He's bred for further and he's got that blistering turn of foot - sometimes if it's not broken don't fix it. We've got some talking to do now because there's the Group Two at Sandown he could go to but he could just go straight to Newbury - and it's local! - Roger Teal, trainer."
2025-03-29 - Doncaster"Dancing Gemini ran well. I rode him to finish and he just emptied out. He'll be better back in trip - Dylan Browne McMonagle, rider."
2024-06-01 - Epsom"We'll let the dust settle and then we'll have a discussion. Whether Dancing Gemini will stay a mile and a half around Epsom or maybe do you come back here over a mile and a quarter - there's lots to discuss. He's always had that kick and maybe he might have too much speed for a mile and a half, and coming here might be the wise thing. He'll have come on for today and he's had no prep - Roger Teal, trainer."
2024-05-12 - Longchamp"That was really impressive. We've held Dancing Gemini in high regard all year and he did a piece of work last week that was breathtaking. I knew we had him in good shape coming into today and I said to Lewis if he can back up that bit of work you'll be going pass that lollipop in front. It was a very nice performance. We won this with Tip Two Win and he could possibly be as good. He's got a similar profile, he's got speed, he's got a turn of foot and he's got a good cruising gear. He's in the Futurity here but we'll play it by ear, we'll see how he comes out of today. If all's well and the owner is happy we might take a punt on it. If not we'll leave him for next year, maybe do a trial and go on to the Guineas - Roger Teal, trainer."
2023-09-15 - Doncaster"Dancing Gemini in probably one of the nicest two-year-olds already. We don't get many but we know when we've got a good horse and I've got a lot of butterflies about this horse. He's still a tad green but he went away nicely and he was very professional - Roger Teal, trainer."

No slouch but he has never raced above Listed level and looks like being a possible pacemaker for stablemate The Lion In Winter in this first Group attempt; clear bottom of this pack on handicap marks and should be swallowed up once his rivals get roaring.

Quotes
"Mississippi River always runs up to a nice mark. Seven is a lovely trip for him, he is in the handicap at Leopardstown next Saturday, so we will see how he comes out of it, if not, we will find another little race for him and probably try him in stakes company from seven to a mile. He'll have a winner's penalty, but in fairness, he has good form around Leopardstown and it is a good pot so we'll see how he is - Chris Armstrong, Aidan O'Brien's stable representative."
