Quotes
"Fine Interview is a dream to ride, he's very relaxed for a sprinter. The strong headwind today suited horses ridden quietly and he picked up well the last couple - Billy Loughnane, jockey, speaking to Sky Sports Racing."
2026-03-29 - Doncaster"Fine Interview is a pretty decent horse on these heavy conditions. This is ideal for him - heavy and wet - and he loves a slog - James Doyle, jockey, speaking to Sky Sports Racing."

Won this race last year; interesting back here with York reappearance under his belt
Quotes
"I wouldn't take it at face value that Sondad likes that ground, but it's so wet out there that he just slopped through it. He won so well on good to firm at Ascot that it was a bit of an unknown, but he's just come on by leaps and bounds with another year on his back. I was panicking slightly wondering if it would open up for him, but I had enough momentum and I've ridden him a lot of times. I've got a bit of a soft spot for him - Joanna Mason, jockey."

Quotes
"Apollo One has been very unlucky, but he's been giving 15lb to improving handicappers. I think at Doncaster he actually thought he'd won. He doesn't really like that ground but there you go. That's him done for the year and he'll go home and rest now - Peter Charalambous, co-trainer."
2024-10-05 - Ascot"I'm not sure that the rain has helped Apollo One as it just blunts his acceleration. He is not the biggest, but you don't have to be. He has got a heart like his mother Boonga Roogeta, who was as tough as nails. He is just a lovely, lovely horse. I'd say we will probably go off to Epsom now for the valuable six-furlong handicap on Derby Day - Peter Charalambous, joint-trainer."
2023-05-06 - Newmarket"I would think that Apollo One would drop back to six furlongs for the sprint on all-weather finals day after that - Martin Harley, jockey."

Quotes
"Being gelded has obviously been a big help to Gold Star Hero, and having the winter off too. You couldn't really ask for more, to go bang, bang, bang like that. He has won on turf before, but he's clearly a better horse this year. It will be interesting to see if he can transfer his all-weather form back onto turf. "A horse I bought out of Dermot Weld's, he had his first start for us at Windsor this month and just got done in second when he was probably unlucky. He was an expensive horse [72,000gns] for what he's rated [68], but I like him a lot and think he'll be a lovely horse. We got him in October and he's taken time to get right. It was quick enough at Windsor and he probably wants a bit of cut in the ground. I hope he could end up being a Saturday horse. 30-05-24"
Quotes
"Partisan Hero showed some speed, and Dave [Loughnane, trainer] said he would. He enjoyed being on his own, but was looking for a bit of company late on and I just let him go, as I didn't want to interfere with his stride. He won well. It wasn't the plan to come stands' side - and I never really had one. I was thinking go straight but he only came across late on. He was getting a bit tired but stuck on well - Rab Havlin, jockey."
2026-05-23 - York"I didn't use my whip much as I was fairly confident Partisan Hero was doing enough the whole way up the straight. His last furlong was probably his best so he will be able to go up in trip. There should be improvement in him - Jake Coen, jockey, speaking on Racing TV."

"We like him and he ran very well in two novice events, finishing second both times. We felt he could win a maiden at the back end of the campaign but the season was slipping away, so we didn't run him and decided to keep him fresh for this year. I hope we'll have him ready for a sprint maiden in the first month of the season and then he could make a nice handicapper. 20-03-24"

2025-09-27 - Ripon"Eye Of Dubai has done well to do what he has for a three-year-old this year. When he won at Ripon he beat older horses like he did today and he should make into a really decent handicapper next year - Sean Quinn, joint-trainer."

Stable Tour
"He could run in the Abernant at the Craven meeting or we might wait for a valuable 6f handicap at the Guineas meeting. Although he's not a regular winner, his runs in the Palace House and King's Stand last season were really good. He's been gelded, which might help, and he could be a Wokingham horse. 06-04-23"
"He won at Listed level as a two-year-old and has progressed this season without adding to his two career wins. His best run was when second to Rohaan in the Pavilion Stakes at Ascot in April, which was a superb effort. I'm looking forward to campaigning him in the autumn and he should get his head in front again as he's pleasing us at home. 18-08-21"
Quotes
"Saint Lawrence has run an absolute stormer and I think if the pace had been stronger, he'd have nearly won. He's definitely improving and he's proved himself at Group 1 level; he's taken a big step up from winning a handicap at Ascot - Hollie Doyle, jockey."
2023-08-06 - Deauville"Saint Lawrence has always shown us plenty at home, he's a very nice horse to have around and I'm just delighted to get the job done on first time of asking. I fancied all three of them, I made sure Hollie chose which one to ride so it wasn't my fault and she chose right! - Archie Watson, trainer."
2023-06-24 - Ascot"It was probably trainer error as a two-year-old thinking as he is by Al Kazeem Saint Lawrence would be fine over seven furlongs. He is entered in the King's Stand. James (Doyle, jockey) said he can go five or six and we might look at the Leisure Stakes at Windsor which is an easy six in about two weeks' time - Roger Varian, trainer."
2022-04-30 - Newmarket"Saint Lawrence has looked a nice one and was one of ours we nominated early on in the first week (to get in certain races). Although he's by Al Kazeem he'd shown up well in May on the gallops and we thought he could be a Chesham horse. He didn't go down that route, but wasn't disgraced in the Pat Eddery or Superlative, although those races probably didn't go his way. I'm not sure about plans. Andrea said he'd get a mile, but I don't think he necessarily has to next time. He's had five runs, so maybe one or two more this season and the Royal Lodge can favour experience. Now he's a Listed winner, we have to aim at Group 3s and Group 2s and there are no soft options so we'll see. He'll be better on better ground - Roger Varian, trainer."

Quotes
"It's a very sharp five at Tipperary, hence the headgear, but it kept Twilight Jet concentrated. We'd lots of dreams and aspirations after he won the Lacken but he was very sick after Ascot, then had colic surgery since and later slipped on a hard surface so needed surgery on his hock. This year was race to race so and he had a good blow afterwards. The headgear may stay on. He could go to Newbury or further afield in the coming months and may stay in training - Michael O'Callaghan, trainer."
2023-09-03 - Tipperary"Twilight Jet doesn't know when to stop. He's a very good horse. He's as tough. He got better and quicker with every run. He went to the Breeders Cup and that might have been one race too many for him. He's come back bigger and stronger this year and even quicker I think. He's the real deal - Leigh Roche, jockey."
2022-05-15 - Naas"The plan was to make the running but we got a nice lead into it and the race couldn't have gone any better. Twilight Jet has plenty of speed and handled the drop back to five. He liked this ground but is quite versatile in that regard - Leigh Roche, rider."

"He was third at Leicester on his penultimate start behind Strike Red - it was a promising run under Rossa Ryan. We rode him prominently but he just found the hill there over 6f a little bit too much, especially with near-enough top weight. He then ran the other day at York but was drawn on the wrong side. He ran respectably, though, and again he'll be one who will pop up in a big handicap sometime this year. 20-05-26"
Quotes
"Kylian has been quite a slow learner. Karl always thought he was a good horse, and he was surprised when he got beat at York first time out, but he is probably just a slow learner and he is learning through his racing. Hopefully he will go on to better things. Ryan thinks he could possibly get six furlongs and that is another avenue. The Molecomb could possibly be next - Philip Robinson, assistant racing manager to the owner."

"There was a decent pace early on and when they split into two I was sort of in the middle and didn't know which way to go. Strike Red picked up when I asked him and he won well. Hopefully he has another in him. All his form is maybe on the slower side but he loved it out there - Warren Fentiman, jockey."
2026-04-25 - Leicester"Strike Red had a bad injury last year that you wouldn't really see on Flat horses and more on jumpers. He's been better than ever this year and this worked out easily enough. I always told Richard [Fahey, trainer] he feels like a Group horse and he's a top-end handicapper. There's plenty still to look forward to - Billy Garritty, jockey."
2024-10-12 - York"Strike Red has been a good horse for me. He keeps winning these big handicaps so I'm absolutely delighted. I didn't think Ripon really suited him the last day. When he gets there he doesn't do a lot. He pricks his earls a little bit - Billy Garritty, rider"

"He's such a star and has had two good winters in Bahrain. He has a higher rating than he's ever won off, although he did come agonisingly close a couple of times last summer, but I don't think winning off this mark is out of the question. He loves Chester and will go to the May meeting. 09-04-25"
"He's just an absolute joy. He's the winningmost horse at Chester after two more wins there this season. He's that lucky individual who hasn't seen an English winter for a few years and he's heading back to Bahrain. The handicapper dropped him a couple of pounds for a below-par effort on very soft ground in the Portland, which means he'll get a run or two before he has to step up in grade out there. He's had three fantastic winters there now - he was the series winner this year having been second last year. He's that rare thing - a racehorse who pays for himself. 08-10-25"
Quotes
"Roman Dragon is so special around here. He loses interest in a straight line a lot of the time, he looks at the crowd and whatever, and he's a very balanced, agile, nimble horse. He'll come back here when he can, the problem is the better he gets the fewer races there are. He won the Queensferry last year and we'll try and win it again - Hugo Palmer, trainer."
2026-05-07 - Chester"Roman Dragon is an absolute star and it was a first-class ride by Jason [Watson]. He read the race supremely well, but the horse was very tough. Turning in I thought we were going to win by even further as we were going so well. He loves it here and he's a sprint handicapper who pulled it out of the bag in a stakes race. I'm not sure he can go to a much higher level than this, but he's turned his love for this track into a massive advantage. He goes so well here and that's worth half a dozen pounds ? it was probably the difference today. Chester made a nice rug for him and he's a history maker - Hugo Palmer, trainer."
2025-08-03 - Chester"Roman Dragon loves Chester. That's now six wins here for this horse, which has equalled the modern-day track record. We had a nice enough draw [five] and everything went perfectly - Hugo Palmer, trainer."
2025-05-08 - Chester"Nick (Hughes, part-owner)'s ambition is for Roman Dragon to become the winningmost horse around Chester and we think he needs six. We're two-thirds of the way there. I'm delighted, he won off 84 last year and 79 here so maybe we can get another before the season's out - Hugo Palmer, trainer."

Useful sort whose latest effort is best forgiven (chance compromised by early trouble); however, he has something to prove away from Newmarket, where most of his turf form lies.

Stable Tour
"He won really nicely on the Rowley Mile on Guineas Saturday. It was great to have a nice winner for the syndicate, who are exciting and going places. They've supported us a lot. Hopefully he's still an exciting horse. He's up to 103 now and there's a 6f handicap at York the week before Royal Ascot we could go to, or we might see if he'd sneak into the Wokingham. We could drop him back to 5f for the Palace of Holyroodhouse but I don't think we'll be doing that. He's very quick and I think he's a real summer horse. Hopefully he's got some improvement in him. 14-05-25"
Quotes
"We felt Invictus Gold came forward for his last run at Newmarket as he was quite behind in his coat. He is a sprinter, but we have not done much with him. In his demeanour he seemed well and we were quite keen to see him on better ground. He had never run on quick ground and I think that has brought about the improvement today. The day he ran here the last day it rained, but we really wanted to see him on quicker ground. He ran quite well at York in the Rockingham, but I felt he was blunted that day by the heavy ground as he is quite a quick horse. I would say we will look at stakes races now. I think he is worth a try in Listed company, especially if there is a 3yo 6f sprint somewhere. Maybe we could look to go to France as he is quite ground versatile, and he is a very easy horse to ride - Jackie Clover, trainer's wife."
2025-05-03 - Newmarket"We liked Invictus Gold a lot going into the first run, so we sort of came away from Yarmouth a little disappointed. He's had a little setback on the gallops so we couldn't get him out any sooner, but he shaped up nicely in his home work, so it was lovely to see him do that on the track - Tom Clover, trainer."

"He's a classy horse who is new to us having been acquired out of Ruth Carr's yard following four wins this year. He joins the yard with a rating of 100 and I must praise Ruth, who did a great job with him - I've been very pleased with him since he arrived. We're going to stick to what we know he does best and that is sprint handicaps. He ran in a 5f handicap at Newcastle last week, coming from off the pace to finish a highly creditable second. Looking ahead, there is the Portland Handicap and the 6f International Handicap at York we may consider. 06-09-23"
Quotes
"We were thinking Badri was just an all-weather horse. We ran him at Beverley as we thought a stiff five would suit. He romped home and he wasn't disgraced at York. It didn't look like he was coming down the hill but he was doing his best work where it mattered most. We tried him on the grass last year and he didn't really look like he suited it but my horses are running much better this year and that is sometimes how it goes. We were thinking about the Gosforth Park Cup as he's unbeaten over five furlongs at Newcastle, and there's also a big five-furlong handicap at Ascot in July - we had that in mind thinking that a stiff five at Ascot would suit him - Ruth Carr, trainer."
