"I'm not sure that the rain has helped Apollo One as it just blunts his acceleration. He is not the biggest, but you don't have to be. "Being gelded has obviously been a big help to Gold Star Hero, and having the winter off too. You couldn't really ask for more, to go bang, bang, bang like that. He has won on turf before, but he's clearly a better horse this year. It will be interesting to see if he can transfer his all-weather form back onto turf. "Partisan Hero showed some speed, and Dave [Loughnane, trainer] said he would. He enjoyed being on his own, but was looking for a bit of company late on and I just let him go, as I didn't want to interfere with his stride. He won well. It wasn't the plan to come stands' side - and I never really had one. I was thinking go straight but he only came across late on. He was getting a bit tired but stuck on well - Rab Havlin, jockey."

"It was probably trainer error as a two-year-old thinking as he is by Al Kazeem Saint Lawrence would be fine over seven furlongs. He is entered in the King's Stand. James (Doyle, jockey) said he can go five or six and we might look at the Leisure Stakes at Windsor which is an easy six in about two weeks' time - Roger Varian, trainer."

"Saint Lawrence has looked a nice one and was one of ours we nominated early on in the first week (to get in certain races). Although he's by Al Kazeem he'd shown up well in May on the gallops and we thought he could be a Chesham horse. He didn't go down that route, but wasn't disgraced in the Pat Eddery or Superlative, although those races probably didn't go his way. I'm not sure about plans. Andrea said he'd get a mile, but I don't think he necessarily has to next time. He's had five runs, so maybe one or two more this season and the Royal Lodge can favour experience. Now he's a Listed winner, we have to aim at Group 3s and Group 2s and there are no soft options so we'll see. He'll be better on better ground - Roger Varian, trainer."

"It's a very sharp five at Tipperary, hence the headgear, but it kept Twilight Jet concentrated. We'd lots of dreams and aspirations after he won the Lacken but he was very sick after Ascot, then had colic surgery since and later slipped on a hard surface so needed surgery on his hock. This year was race to race so and he had a good blow afterwards. The headgear may stay on. He could go to Newbury or further afield in the coming months and may stay in training - Michael O'Callaghan, trainer."

"Twilight Jet doesn't know when to stop. He's a very good horse. He's as tough. He got better and quicker with every run. He went to the Breeders Cup and that might have been one race too many for him. He's come back bigger and stronger this year and even quicker I think. He's the real deal - Leigh Roche, jockey."

"There was a decent pace early on and when they split into two I was sort of in the middle and didn't know which way to go. Strike Red picked up when I asked him and he won well. "Roman Dragon is so special around here. He loses interest in a straight line a lot of the time, he looks at the crowd and whatever, and he's a very balanced, agile, nimble horse. He'll come back here when he can, the problem is the better he gets the fewer races there are. He won the Queensferry last year and we'll try and win it again - Hugo Palmer, trainer."

"Roman Dragon is an absolute star and it was a first-class ride by Jason [Watson]. He read the race supremely well, but the horse was very tough. Turning in I thought we were going to win by even further as we were going so well. He loves it here and he's a sprint handicapper who pulled it out of the bag in a stakes race. I'm not sure he can go to a much higher level than this, but he's turned his love for this track into a massive advantage. He goes so well here and that's worth half a dozen pounds ? it was probably the difference today. Chester made a nice rug for him and he's a history maker - Hugo Palmer, trainer."

"Roman Dragon loves Chester. That's now six wins here for this horse, which has equalled the modern-day track record. We had a nice enough draw [five] and everything went perfectly - Hugo Palmer, trainer."

"Nick (Hughes, part-owner)'s ambition is for Roman Dragon to become the winningmost horse around Chester and we think he needs six. We're two-thirds of the way there. I'm delighted, he won off 84 last year and 79 here so maybe we can get another before the season's out - Hugo Palmer, trainer."

"We felt Invictus Gold came forward for his last run at Newmarket as he was quite behind in his coat. He is a sprinter, but we have not done much with him. In his demeanour he seemed well and we were quite keen to see him on better ground. He had never run on quick ground and I think that has brought about the improvement today. The day he ran here the last day it rained, but we really wanted to see him on quicker ground. He ran quite well at York in the Rockingham, but I felt he was blunted that day by the heavy ground as he is quite a quick horse. I would say we will look at stakes races now. I think he is worth a try in Listed company, especially if there is a 3yo 6f sprint somewhere. Maybe we could look to go to France as he is quite ground versatile, and he is a very easy horse to ride - Jackie Clover, trainer's wife."

"We liked Invictus Gold a lot going into the first run, so we sort of came away from Yarmouth a little disappointed. He's had a little setback on the gallops so we couldn't get him out any sooner, but he shaped up nicely in his home work, so it was lovely to see him do that on the track - Tom Clover, trainer."

"We were thinking Badri was just an all-weather horse. We ran him at Beverley as we thought a stiff five would suit. He romped home and he wasn't disgraced at York. It didn't look like he was coming down the hill but he was doing his best work where it mattered most. We tried him on the grass last year and he didn't really look like he suited it but my horses are running much better this year and that is sometimes how it goes. We were thinking about the Gosforth Park Cup as he's unbeaten over five furlongs at Newcastle, and there's also a big five-furlong handicap at Ascot in July - we had that in mind thinking that a stiff five at Ascot would suit him - Ruth Carr, trainer."
